Channelling his inner Joe Wilson, who famously told Obama “You Lie!”, another Republican Congressman takes Obama to task for scaring senior citizens about social security. From his home state of Illinois, Representative Joe Walsh released a video telling Obama to “quit lying” about Social Security. Obama’s blatant lie about Social Security seems exceptionally outrageous. Did he really think that he could get away with it? After all, everyone knows that Social Security won’t be cut off.
The truly interesting part of this story is that Obama was so confident that the media would cover for him that he didn’t hesitate to make one of the most brazen lies in political history. Perhaps he was channelling his inner community organizer, but this sort of behavior doesn’t fly at the presidential level. It’s too visible and too obvious, and this video from Joe Walsh drives home the fact that outrageous lies like this will not hold up in the internet age.
